There is no way to prevent or cure seborrheic dermatitis. However, it can be controlled with treatment. Mild corticosteroid creams and lotions, or anti-fungal topicals such as ciclopirox or ketoconazole, may also be applied to the affected areas of skin. Adult patients may need to use a medicated shampoo and a stronger corticosteroid preparation. Non-prescription shampoos containing tar, zinc pyrithione, selenium sulfide, ketoconazole, and/or salicylic acid may be recommended by a dermatologist, or a prescription shampoo, cream gel, or foam may be given. I hate to break your heart but the cure is almost none. However, with the use of corticosteroids, you can control it to almost cured stage. Often, a single cotricosteroid cream may not be sufficient or effect. In my opinion, two of the powerful corticosteroids, Betamethasone valerate and Clobetazole, may be the best out there. There is anotherone called mometasone is newer and may not be the strongest (my opinion) but you have to try. Be careful as long term usage is highly discouraged and always speak with your doctor first...Good Luck..
